The Many Faces of Water in the Cultures of Asia and Oceania
27.11.2025 - 31.05.2026
Water – the source of life, a symbol of transformation and the power of nature – has shaped the cultures of Asia and Oceania for centuries.
Dive into an extraordinary journey through the region’s diverse cultures at our exhibition, featuring masterpieces from the Museum’s collection: paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, and immersive multimedia installations. Learn how water has inspired myth, religion, daily life, and artistic expression across—among others—Iran, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, China, and Japan.
Explore sections that reveal civilizations flourishing along mighty rivers, the rituals and beliefs shaped by water, everyday survival, sports and entertainment, and the fascinating depictions of aquatic animals and plants in art and culture.Interactive and immersive elements, an educational trail for children, and insights into contemporary ecological challenges highlight the connection between the objects and our contemporary lives.
This exhibition invites you to reflect, engage, and celebrate water’s vital role—while inspiring a deeper commitment to protecting our environment.
The Museum is an organisational unit of the Self-Government of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.
