The Asian Library

The Asian Library of the Asia and Pacific Museum possesses over 14 000 volumes. It mainly collects scientific publications regarding the material and spiritual cultures of the countries of Asia, Australia and Oceania.

The establishment of the Library was based on the private collection of Andrzej Wawrzyniak, the founder and first director of the Museum. The oldest prints are dated to the 19th century, while many of them are richly illustrated.

The library amasses publications from Poland and abroad, both academic in character as well as popular, including numerous unique works from various Polish collections. An important element are the museum catalogues, obtained via cooperation with museums globally. The library possesses many specialist journals, dictionaries and encyclopaedias as well as auction catalogues of Asian art.
