TEMPORARY EXHIBITION

Wada Aya. Calligraphy

15.11.2019 - 1.12.2019

The exhibition is part of a program of events associated with the hundredth anniversary of establishing Polish-Japanese diplomatic relations.

On this occasion, Wada Aya prepared a new series of works exhibited in Poland. The artist’s work, defined by her as calligraphy, falls somewhere between traditional definitions of calligraphy and painting. Wada Aya is inspired by the ancient masterpieces of both of these arts,  in Japan and China closely intertwined, and by completely different kind forms of art – including stone Zen gardens. Through the technique that’s been known for centuries: the use of black ink on white Japanese washi paper, Wada Aya expresses her very personal, original vision.
