Roman Opałka is the world well-known, outstanding Polish artist and author of the conception of "counted paintings". The Museum possesses his early works created in the 1960-ties when he was illustrating two editions of Malay and Indonesian fairy tales: The Innocent Tiger and The Ship Turned into Stone, collected by Robert Stiller. The artist had been inspired by the Indonesian shadow theatre and the stone carvings of Borobudur.
