The part concerning the region of Oceania in the Museum's collection belongs to the relatively smallest, consisting of approximately 500 objects of ceremonial or everyday use. They come mainly from Melanesia: Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. The most outstanding piece in the latter collection is a 3,5 meters high slit-drum from the Ambrym island. Single but quite valuable objects are from New Ireland, New Britain, the Marquesas and other islands. Australia is represented in a quite modest way with a small number of objects.
