Traditional, wooden architecture of Nepal had numerous decorative elements. Among theme the most characteristic are openwork lattices and braces holding outputted overlaps of roofs. They are decorated with ornaments, images of deities, people and animals, as well as genre and erotic scenes. The most talented woodcarvers were Newars from the Kathmandu valley.
