PRAJNAPARAMITA

Mongolia, 17th-18th cent.
Prajnaparamita is a female deity personifying the perfect wisdom, the most important feature of bodhisattva, "mother of virtues". Her main attribute is a book. The goddess holds also rosary, vase and vajra. The sculpture, closed with a metal plaque, contains mantra scrolls and bags with herbs which consecrate the image.
