DECORATIVE HANGING - SUZANI

Southern part of Tajikistan, late 19th - early 20th cent.
Suzani are hangings embroidered with flower motifs used by people in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as decoration of the representative parts of their houses. Traditionally they formed part of the bride dowry and were used during marriage ceremonies.
